Frequently Asked Questions
Not your average school, that’s for sure. Montana Boarding School is where the wild meets the water. We offer paddleboard sessions, jetboarding lessons, kayak classes, and a few off-the-wall experiences you’ll only find in the Flathead Valley. It’s part water sports academy, part vibe check, and 100% Montana-born.
Nope. Zero. Nada. Whether you’re a total newbie or just rusty from a long Montana winter, our sessions are built to meet you where you’re at. We’ll get you gliding, cruising, or flying (looking at you, jetboarders) in no time. Promise.
We bring the gear, you bring the good vibes. Here’s what we recommend:
- Swimsuit or quick-dry clothing
- Towel
- Sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Any “must-haves” (inhaler, hat, epic - playlist)
- Layers for early mornings or evening paddles
We provide: all boards, paddles, life jackets, helmets (if needed), and safety briefings.
All over the greater Flathead Valley. We’ll coordinate exact locations after booking based on weather, water conditions, and your preference. Popular spots include:
- Flathead Lake
- Whitefish Lake
- Echo Lake
- Somers Bay
- Bigfork Bay
We’ll always let you know where we’ll meet up and what to expect.
Easy. Head to our Book a Session page, pick your activity, and follow the prompts to lock in your time slot. If you’re booking a group or planning something custom (like a paddle party or private retreat), shoot us a message and we’ll help get it dialed in.
Heck yes. We love groups. Whether it's a birthday, reunion, bachelorette, bachelor, family float, or just your crew getting outside—we’ve got you. Our team can tailor the session to your size, vibe, and goals. Group discounts and special rates apply for parties of 4 or more.
Life happens. Here’s the deal:
- Cancel 48+ hours before: Full refund.
- Cancel 24–48 hours before: 50% refund.
- Cancel under 24 hours or no-show: Sorry, no refund.
Weather-related changes will be handled on a case-by-case basis. We won’t paddle in unsafe conditions, and we’ll always try to reschedule if Mother Nature gets feisty. For full details, check out our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
Yes! Kids 8 and up are welcome to paddle with a parent or guardian. All kid-friendly sessions include age-appropriate gear, extra instruction, and a healthy dose of fun. Safety is always our #1 priority, and we love helping groms find their balance (on and off the board).
Absolutely. All of our instructors are trained in water safety and first aid. We provide helmets, life jackets, and thorough briefings for anything with power or potential wipeouts (hi again, jetboards). Our sessions are structured to be low-risk and high-reward—but always within a comfort zone that makes sense for you.
We sure do—but that’s part of our sister biz, MontanaBoarders.com. If you’re not looking for instruction and just want to rent boards, kayaks, or glow gear for your lake weekend, we’ve got a Drop-n-Go program that brings the fun straight to your dock.
You bet. Every student who books a session with Montana Boarding School gets a special discount code to rent from MontanaBoarders.com and buy gear from E-Boarders.com. We call that a win-win-win.
Only if recess is on the water. We don’t hand out diplomas, but we do hand out good times, life skills, and stories you’ll be telling for years. It’s less about report cards and more about ripples, laughs, and real Montana connection.
